Vacation Planning is in Full Swing!
I know it’s the holiday season, but it’s never too early to plan one’s vacation. We have Plan A and Plan B. They’re both good plans, but Plan A is what I’m hopin’ for. This year we really, really want to stay at the historic Crystal Cove Beach Cottages in Laguna Beach. These cottages were built on a 3 mile stretch of beach from the 1920’s through the 1950’s, some of which served as movie sets. The 46 cottages were scheduled for demolition in 1999 to make room for a luxury hotel, but due to public outcry, the Crystal Cove Alliance was formed which stopped demolition and these lovely cottages were saved. Money was raised (and still is being raised) and 13 cottages were refurbished and opened to the public in June 2006.
Needless to say, this place is extremely popular so getting a reservation here is quite difficult. Reservations are only accepted online or via telphone through Reserve America on the first day of the month beginning at 8 a.m. You can reserve up to 7 mos. in advance so on February 1st (we want to go in August), you can bet I’ll have a phone to my ear while trying online as well at exactly 8.am.
If I’m not lucky enough to get a reservation, we’ll go on to plan B which is a week in San Francisco. The boys have always wanted to go on an airplane so we’ll fly and stay a week there. Either way, I’ll be happy with whichever one we end up doing, but I’m going to do my best to go with Plan A. Wish me luck!
